You would think with the amount of time I spend on the internet, I would have been on this sooner.

Mixed martial arts superstar Gina Carano makes her feature film debut, starring and performing her own stunts in HAYWIRE. The plot is rather straightforward:

Beautiful freelance covert operative Mallory Kane is hired out by her handler to various global entities to perform jobs which governments can't authorize. When an operation goes awry she needs to use all of her skills, tricks and abilities to escape an international manhunt, make it back to the United States, protect her family, and exact revenge on those who have betrayed her.

But if this movie trailer is any indication, it's anything but.



I'm a girl who loves action movies, so I am definitely seeing this. We don't get to see a lot of women doing action films, other than playing the useless girlfriend, so I love that Gina gets to kick some serious ass. What I love more, this isn't some D-list pile of junk. HAYWIRE, directed by Steven Soderbergh, co-stars Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, and Michael Douglas.

What I don't love is that HAYWIRE is being released on January 20, 2012, the same weekend another film starring a strong female lead comes out, Kate Beckinsale's UNDERWORLD AWAKENING. I know, two entirely different demographics, but still, how great would it have been had they opened a week apart, and both won their opening weekends. #girlpower
